Be There! Corfu Animation Festival

By 30th March 2017 May 6th, 2020 Representation

We are delighted that two short films scored by Air-Edel’s Alexandra Harwood are being shown at the Be There! Corfu Animation Festival running from 29th March – 2nd April 2017.

Alexandra composed the music for ‘The Evening Her Mind Jumped Out of Her Head‘, directed by Shaun Clark and Kim Noce in 2015 and it will be shown at this year’s festival on the 31st March. It has subsequently been nominated for numerous awards and won the 2016 Encounters Award for Best Animated Short Film  LSFF, London, as well as being shown at over 35 screenings around the world including the 2016 New York International Children’s Film Festival and 2017 Syn festival, Edinburgh.

“One cold winters evening, a serious woman is forced to lighten up when her mind jumps out of her head…”

BAFTA nominated ‘Neck and Neck‘, also directed by Shaun Clark was shown on the 29th March. The film is inspired by Shakespeare’s Othello and is a dark surreal take on the relationship between the deceived Othello, the innocent Desdemona and the mendacious Iago. The short won ‘Best Short Film 2016’ awarded by Steve Kopian Film Critic and has also been shown at over 35 festivals including 2017 Little Terrors, Toronto, Canada and 2017 London Short Film Festival.

Be There! Corfu Animation began in 2011 and set out to put Greece on the world festival animation map, inviting each year notable animation artists, and networking with the most acclaimed animation festivals. Be there! collaborates with Ionian University (Department of Audiovisual Arts), has partnerships with National Gallery of Greece (Corfu annex), and has received the support of major cultural institutes such as the French Institute of Greece, the Embassies of the Czech Republic in Greece, Poland, Argentina, Israel and Sweden.
