Ian Honeyman is a Los Angeles based film composer and music producer.
Ian was obsessed with music from a young age and played in every musical ensemble of any kind he could find, until deciding to study classical composition. After training with world famous composers Chen Yi and Nicholas Maw at Peabody Conservatory, he moved to Los Angeles where he discovered film scoring. Ian has composed or arranged music for over sixty films and TV shows.
Along with his classical training, Ian builds his own musical instruments and plays a wide variety he has collected from around the world, blending these with classical instruments to create a new musical vocabulary for each film. Ian takes a deeply character-based approach to film scoring to make sure each score is unique, genuine to the characters and film, and as big a journey as possible.
As a songwriter and producer, Ian was nominated for back-to-back HMMAs in 2020 and 2021, for the songs “Let It Fly” from the film “Chance”, co-written with Angela Parrish, and “The Other Side of The Rainbow” from the film “Cured”, co-written with TUCKER. This song was written up in the LA Times coverage of 2022 Oscars Best Original Song contenders.
As a screenwriter, Ian’s first script “Humanity Inc”, written with his wife Joanna, received an 8 on The Black List.
Ian and Joanna live in Marina Del Rey, California.
