As Head of Music at Lionsgate Entertainment Carter oversaw music for more than 20 films including La La Land, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I and Part II, Divergent and Insurgent. As Senior Vice President, Music at Warner Bros. Pictures, he oversaw the music for more than 70 Warner Bros. films including Argo, The Hangover series, Syriana, and Contagion. As the head of Film & TV for Peermusic publishing, Carter spent 7 years applying his experience to the selling side of the equation to provide the right music from the Peer catalog to countess projects across myriad major outlets.

More recent supervision projects include Valiant One from Monarch Media (Chase Stokes and Lana Condor), rising cult horror film The Djinn and The Boy Behind the Door (both films on which Carter was also a producer) and others.
