H is for Happiness (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Air-Edel Records released Nerida Tyson-Chew’s original score for multi-award-winning colourful family film, “H is for Happiness”, directed by John Sheedy on 9th October 2020. The album is available across all major digital platforms including iTunes, Amazon and Spotify.

Described by Vocal Geeks as “…a lightning bolt of joy directly to your soul”, ‘H is for Happiness’ is the story of Candice Phee, a relentlessly optimistic and hilariously forthright, unflinchingly honest girl on the cusp of her 13th birthday. Adapted from Barry Jonsberg’s acclaimed young adult novel, ‘My Life As An Alphabet’, it is a warm-hearted hug of a film, unafraid to tackle serious themes while remaining laugh-out-loud funny and sweetly uplifting.

Writing the score for ‘H is for Happiness’ was loads of fun! With an emotional range from the whimsical, exuberant joyfulness of our unforgettable heroine’s exploits, to heavy-hearted reality with sensitivity, John Sheedy’s vision of a heightened, colourful and unfiltered world was a delight to create musically.

I’d like to sing out a big thank you to my masterful and intuitive concertmaster Phil Hartl, especially on our 20th Year of collaboration; to all of the talented musicians of our ensemble; to extraordinary multi-instrumentalist Greg Herzenach for his exuberant performances; and to my brilliant engineer Guy Gray who brings a creative adeptness to every cue’s mix.

I’d like to express also much appreciation to my music team Bill Boston and Paul Chew for their talents and dedication, to Alice, Maggie and Chantelle at Air-Edel for their huge support, and to Nick for mastering this soundtrack. Finally, a big thank you to my lovely Producers Lisa Hoppe, Tenille Kennedy and Julie Ryan, to Executive Producer Avrill Stark and of course, a huge thank you to Mr John Sheedy for the wonderful opportunity to create music for his storytelling talent.” Nerida Tyson-Chew
