Azaar (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
A tribe of women await their men’s return from war. Azaar, one of the last young girls in the village is intertwined between her mother, grandmother and the rest of the tribe, as she comes to learn the true cost of womanhood.
“I’m extremely grateful to have been a part of this powerful coming of age story. The score itself stemmed from a prayer in Urdu which vocalised the women’s longing for their men to return safely from the war. This sense of longing was at the heart of the music with the use of trance-like sustained notes and wavering phrases which repeat and layer on top of one another. All of this couldn’t have been achieved without Sanyogita Kumari’s beautifully hypnotic voice and director Myriam Raja’s unshaken vision.” – Roshan Gunga
