VIRUS is a music composition and production partnership between three times Grammy Nominated DJ/producer, Paul Oakenfold and Emmy award-winning composer Mike McEvoy.
Paul and Mike have long been associated with the world’s most successful recording artists and have now combined forces to bring their unique skills to the world of Video Game, Film and TV scoring.
Paul and Mike first collaborated in 2008 on the award-winning Japanese Anime feature, Vexille. This was followed by a feature for Overture Pictures, Nothing Like the Holidays. Since then Paul has been writing and producing hits for Madonna and Cher, plus material for his solo album Trance Mission.
Previously, Paul has composed the music for a number of feature films including Swordfish and The Heavy. He has also composed the music for a number of video games including The Bourne Conspiracy, GoldenEye ‘Rogue Agent’ and FIFA.
Mike’s music has featured in a host of award-winning documentaries and dramas from Einstein’s Big Idea to The Wire. Mike has also written the music for several feature films, including Richard Linklater’s Me and Orson Welles and UK indie hit, Forget Me Not. His TV series titles include Alien Deep and Young Dracula.
In 2014 they decided to join together as VIRUS writing in a unique style which combines elements of dark electronic sound design and techno beats, fused with the emotion and melody of live orchestral instrumentation. Together with their highly skilled production and mixing techniques and talent for crafting music which is exciting and compelling, VIRUS offers a cutting edge and world-class approach to scoring.
