Helen Yates
Helen is Maggie’s assistant.
Helen has loved music from an early age and has an unhealthy obsession with David Bowie’s hair circa his Thin White Duke period. She started to learn the ‘cello at 8 and sang in many choirs in and out of school. She also fronted the local jazz band.
Alongside music, Helen has always had a real pull to the theatre and decided to read Contemporary Theatre at Dartington College of Arts, where there were also opportunities to play cello for the composition students. After finishing her studies in a very rural place, the obvious option was to move to the big smoke, where she has been ever since.
While working at Air-Edel she has assisted Maggie on many scores including “Nutcracker The Untold Story”, “Nim’s Island”, “Igor”, “The Soloist” and “Agora”. She also worked with Maggie very closely as assistant music producer on the Leukaemia Research Concert “Music from the Movies with Patrick Doyle” at the Royal Albert Hall.
