Composer Deborah Mollison Wins ‘Award of Merit for Individual Achievement in Music’!

20th March 2017

We are thrilled that Air-Edel’s Deborah Mollison has won the ‘Award of Merit for Individual Achievement in Music’!

Deborah’s score for ‘Sipped’ was recognised for this award by the committee on the Southern Shorts Award panel. The genre-based one-day festivals are held at the Aurora Cineplex in Roswell, Georgia and close with a spectacular awards ceremony.

‘Sipped’ was Deborah’s third collaboration with writer and director Freddie Connor. It is a dark farcical comedy centered around George, a downtrodden middle aged man with no prospects or friends. He unexpectedly discovers that he can control his neighbors like puppets through his coffee cup, one sip at a time. George uses his new found power to toy with one of the local teenagers, getting him to do the most strange, outrageous and ridiculous things! But the power shifts and leaves George in a rather embarrassing scenario…

The short also won the Silver Award at the Los Angeles Film Review Independent Film Awards and ‘Best Comedy’ Muscatine Independent Film Festival.

Deborah is an award-winning songwriter and film composer who is perhaps best known for her score to BAFTA-nominated ‘East is East’, one of the most commercially successful independent British movies of all time. Click here for more details about Deborah’s work.
